I am an MD-PhD candidate in New York City. My research focuses on microbiome and cancer immunology. I started this blog because I have always been passionate about mentorship and writing. Throughout college and graduate/medical training, I’ve been involved in various mentorship and teaching roles. I greatly enjoy sharing my experience with others and helping others achieve their goals. I remember when I was starting my journey in NYC and MD-PhD, I relied heavily on the internet since I was not surrounded by people who had lived in NYC or pursued MD-PhD. I am always excited to learn from others and share my learning.
My goal is to help my readers along their journeys, whatever that may be. Whether you are living in NYC for the first time or thinking about pursuing a doctorate degree – I hope that this blog will help you along your way.
A Little Bit More About Me
Foodie
I love exploring food and fun activities in NYC and other places that I have traveled to. Through the Yelp community and Atmosfy community, I have shared these experiences. Now, I am doing it here on the blog to share it with you. I know that in NYC, there is an endless stream of restaurants and activities to choose from. I hope that you are able to find restaurants and activities that you’d like to try next through my blog.
NYC Lab Rat
Currently halfway through my Ph.D. years, I am working on my dissertation focused on improving the efficacy of cancer immunotherapy and ultimately improve patient outcomes. As a leading cause of death worldwide, cancer accounted for nearly 10 million deaths in 2020. I am passionate about my research and feel deeply grateful that I have the opportunity to be part of a larger effort to fight cancer.
Future Physician Scientist
I am currently halfway through my MD-PhD program, which is an eight-year program for trainees to attain both doctorate degrees. This training in both medicine and research is preparing me for the lifelong career of a physician scientist where I will practice clinical medicine while also pursuing translational research.
Thank you very much for taking the time out to check out my blog. I am so excited to share my journey with you.
